Description

Peter Greenaway is back with
what could be his most personal project yet: A titanic project that will
encompass films, websites, TV programs and more, all of it based around the
semi-autobiographic character Tulse Luper that he created in his short films of
the 1970s and who has subsequently appeared in some of Greenaway’s films
and projects. Greenaway has full command over the visual medium and has not
shied away from graphic sexual content and full-frontal nudity. Art, politics,
satire, violence and sexuality meld with The Third Reich, Mormons and the good
‘ole US of A to equal….who knows? I’m sure Greenaway does, but he’s only
letting the story out in sections that should be pieced together like a puzzle.
While the film certainly stands alone and entertains in spades, the thought it
being just part of a grand whole is both exasperating and provocative.
