SUMMARY: Éliane and Juliette share a suburban pavilion that houses their love affair. One day, Éliane collects a wounded man in his car: Pierre, a gangster who has just escaped. She decides to hide the fugitive in the house, then heals his wounds. While Éliane soon succumbs to the charm of the gangster, he discovers that Juliette has a lover, Gérard. Pierre then uses this situation to his advantage to sow discord between the two women and manipulate them as he pleases. But they will rebel.

ABOUT THE FILM: Erotic thriller shot in 1973 by Eddy Matalon (A such a nice little girl, New York Black-out), Les Mantes religieuses was banned from being released in cinemas by the censorship commission and underwent several cuts before being able to be broadcast to the public, a few months later. Les Mantes religieuses is offered here in its full and restored version, the opportunity to discover this unusual lock-up bringing together the superb Jackie Lombard and Marika Pica, as well as Alain Saury (L’Essayeuse) and Alain Tissier (L’Enfer dans la peau, Le Sexe nu), who was the official actor of José Bénazéraf. A film totally unprecedented since its theatrical release.

• A life of cinema with Eddy Matalon (41 minutes)
