In Norwegian helmer Jens Lien’s dystopia film, Andeas (Trond Fausa Aurvaag) arrives in the desert with no knowledge of how he got there and soon is taken to an unnamed city where he’s given an apartment, new clothes, and an arranged marriage with Anne-Britt (Petronella Barker). Unfortunately, all the clothes are drab, the food is bland, the sex emotionless, and yet everyone wears a plastered smile. Both comical and bizarre, The Bothersome Man comments on the plight of the individual amidst the modern in imaginative ways.
