The Escapees is one of Rollin's most obscure and rare films, having only ever been released on video in Canada and Turkey in miniscule numbers. The film is, at times, brilliant and, at others, maddeningly frustrating, as Rollin's story of two wayward girls on the run from an institution wanders from the fantastic to the farcical and back again. The Escapees contains all the magic and fairytale qualities of films like Fascination and Requiem for a Vampire and has everything one expects from a Rollin film including two beautiful young women, scenes of death, burlesque shows and Brigitte Lahaie!
