Lips of Blood is one of director Jean Rollin’s more acclaimed and sought after vampire films. In this delirious art-horror film, Rollin successfully mixes elements of fairy-tale surrealism with unabashed exploitation images of naked female vampires.
The film tells the story of a man haunted by visions of predatory vampyric women, who he finds he has a strange connection too.
Rollin’s ambitious film has become a cult classic due to is macabre gothic settings and beautiful, poetic imagery. Erotic and poignant in equal measures and laden with extras; if you only ever buy one Jean Rollin film then Lips of Blood should be it.
