Savini's name appears on the credits as Special Make Up Effects Supervisor - he
has since denied working directly on the film and claims that his name was used
fraudulently. He claims to have simply advised Lester Lorraine on his make up
work and never worked directly on the film. However, the books Spaghetti
Nightmares and The Seduction of the Gullible both
reprint a behind-the-scenes still showing Savini clearly on the set of Nightmares
wielding the axe used in the flashback sequence
