Starring David Morrisey, this is a tapestry of interwoven personal stories featuring more than 25 characters. All are united by their efforts to survive in London in the 1990s. Starkly contemporary, fast-paced and unsentimental, occasionally shocking and often funny, the tales build towards climaxes that are sometimes cataclysmic, sometimes healing.

When he arrives at the hospital, he finds the entire facility is going to ruin and no one seems to be in charge, or even caring for the patients. Idiot (Akira Kurosawa) (PAL Region 2)
Kurosawa's electrifying dramatisation uproots the novel's Russian Summer setting to a memorable, snowbound Hokkaido — the northern-most island of Japan, closest to Russia in climate and custom. War criminal Kameda (Masayuki Mori), reprieved from a death sentence, is fresh out of the asylum, mentally fragile, and prone to epileptic fits. In turn, his emotional involvement with two women (Setsuko Hara and Yoshiko Kuga) and his new, increasingly volatile friend Akama (Toshiro Mifune) leads further into madness and gross tragedy

if.... (Criterion) (NTSC Region 1)
Lindsay Anderson’s If. . . . is a daringly anarchic vision of British society, set in a boarding school in late-sixties England. Before Kubrick made his mischief iconic in A Clockwork Orange, Malcolm McDowell made a hell of an impression as the insouciant Mick Travis, who, along with his school chums, trumps authority at every turn, finally emerging as violent savior against the draconian games of one-upmanship played by both students and the powers that be
