"What a shitty day! When José comes home from the lab, displeased and completely on the edge because of his latest cheap horror flick, he not only finds his stoned ex-girlfriend Ana already waiting for him - but also a mysetrious parcel from his old pal Pedro, who seems to take note of the world only through the viewfinder of his camera. The content of the parcel: a Super 8 film reel, an audio tape and the key to an appartment. When José lackadaisically starts playing the tape, old memories of his strange friend start popping up again in his mind's eye at first. But little by little he begins to realize, what incredible story Pedro's actually just about to tell him. Full of disbelief his eyes suddenly fall on the film reel and the key
On 30th December 2009 a legendary figure of Spanish culture suddenly passed away at the age of 66: cult director Iván Zulueta. Addiction, artistic creation to the point of self-abandonment and the black hole between reality and its image - those were the demons that haunted Zulueta. In his unique ARREBATO the director openly and honestly discusses all the obsessions that have ridden him his whole life - and which, as it turned out, were to do so up to the very end. A real gem of European underground film, ARREBATO walks the thin line between horror, experimental cinema and arthouse. Some even see it as a predecessor of David Cronenberg's VIDEODROME. Though this may be debatable, ARREBATO's huge influence on another master of moving pictures is unquestioned: Spanish star director Pedro Almodóvar."
