Korean grindhouse action romp directed by 'Crying Fist' director Ryoo Seung-Wan who also takes a minor acting role. This gritty, humorous but not comedic, martial arts action thriller follows Detective Jeong Tae-su (Jeong Du-hong), who returns from Seoul to Onsung, his hometown for the funeral of an old friend, reformed mobster Wang-Jae (Ahn Gil-gang). The camaraderie of old acquaintance soon gives way to an impromptu investigation of his old friend's death. Along with his buddy Ryoo (Seung-Wan) Tae-Su begins to uncover evidence that quickly gives way to an endless series of attacks on his person by teenage gangs, bloodthirsty mobs and crack assassins. Exploiting the '70s grindhouse style in a slick but loving homage to everyone from De Palma to Tarantino, Seung-Wan lets fly with huge fight scenes, polished choreography and gigantic set pieces.
