Fantastic Planet (Masters of Cinema Dual Format) (PAL DVD / Blu-Ray Region B)
René Laloux's mesmerising psychedelic sci-fi animated feature won the Grand Prix at the 1973 Cannes Film Festival and is a landmark of European animation. Based on Stefan Wul's novel Oms en série [Oms by the dozen], Laloux's breathtaking vision was released in France as La Planète sauvage [The Savage Planet]; in the USA as Fantastic Planet; and immediately drew comparisons to Swift's Gulliver's Travels and Planet of the Apes (both the 1968 film and Boule's 1963 novel). Today, the film can be seen to prefigure much of the work of Hayao Miyazaki at Studio Ghibli (Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away) due to its palpable political and social concerns, cultivated imagination, and memorable animation techniques.

Freed from the constraints of psychological narrative, Murnau's mastery of cinematic technique places his Faust at the pinnacle of the silent era, its barrage of visceral and apocryphal imagery contrasting with the simplicity and directness of its spiritual theme. An incredible special edition of a fantastic film

The British Film Institute has compiled for the first time, the definitive collection of films from the 1950s' Free Cinema movement. The DVD box set celebrates the 50 th Anniversary of the first screening of films by the Free Cinema group, which was also commemorated by a special event at the NFT on 5 February.

Frontier (Kino) (Blu-Ray)
Filmed in the California desert on Super 16mm, THE FRONTIER weaves elements of classic noir, American western, and the hard-boiled paperbacks of the ’50s to create a timeless world within which the film’s colorful characters roam. Shadowy, textured, and wonderfully lush, THE FRONTIER looks like it popped out of the front cover of a gritty paperback novel

Frownland DVD (NTSC All Region)
Ronald Bronstein describes his extraordinary film as "a brown tomato lobbed with spazmo aim at the spotless surface of the silver screen." Frownland has garnered passionate raves and scathing denunciation. Screenings have ended in screaming matches. None of Frownland's reputation does justice to its savage dark humor, emotional heft and stylistic audacity. Frownland is a character study of Keith, a neurotic, manipulative, unlovable New Yorker.
