With all the films we did together, the only think that counted in the end is what you see on the screen - Werner Herzog

Time has been kind to the art of motion pictures in more ways than one. Some films that seemed out of place or of another time can, years later, find their home with cineastes of another generation. Time can allow for greater perspective on the works of a particular filmmaker or actor. Time can be a treasured guide to the evolution of a career, and shine light on what might have gone unnoticed or undervalued.

It has been nearly 30 years since filmmaker Werner Herzog and actor Klaus Kinski started down their cinematic road to perdition with the epic AGUIRRE, THE WRATH OF GOD (1973). Over the course of four subsequent films, these two warriors of German cinema would challenge, inspire, and torture each other into creating some of the most enduring and unique experiences of modern film. Driven by mutual feelings of mistrust, hatred and affection, Herzog and Kinski channeled these emotions into tales of madness and passion for everything from opera to the thirst for blood.

It is only now, so many years later, that lovers of cinema everywhere can finally see the true breadth of their accomplishments. There have been many great partnerships between actors and directors over the decades, but it is hard to imagine a more combustible and endlessly fascinating relationship than the one between Herzog and Kinski.

However, it is important to note, that despite the many trilas and tribulations that these two men put each other through over the course of their working relationship, the end result was worth every struggle, and can now be enjoyed for years to come wherever great cinema is treasured.

Presented here for the first time together are AGUIRRE, THE WRATH OF GOD (1973), NOSFERATU, PHANTOM DER NACHT (1979), WOYZECK (1979), FITZCARRALDO (1982), COBRA VERDE (1987) and the award-winning documentary MY BEST FIEND (2000).
