VIOLENT SUMMER: July 1943: Italy is witnessing the last days of the Mussolini regime. Carlo (Jean-Louis Trintignant, The Desert of the Tartars), whose father is a high ranking fascist, falls desperately in love in love with widow Roberta (Eleonora Rossi Drago). The Two have to fight social and class prejudices. But when they finally accept to stand up for their love, Italy surrenders to the allies thus igniting the germans anger and fury. Carlo now has to face the consequences of his father’s political choices while trying to defend his love for Roberta.
GIRL WITH A SUITCASE: Aida (gorgeous Claudia Cardinale) has been dumped by Marcello (Corrado Pani of Secrets of Call Girl fame). She desperately tries to find him but comes across his younger brother Lorenzo (Jacques Perrin, The Desert of the Tartars). The boy falls for the beautiful woman who’s probably pregnant and looking for a man who can take care of her. Lorenzo soon realizes that sometimes love’s not enough. Sometimes you have to take sides and make your own choices.
